The PR Hacking Course by Philippe Borremans

The PR Hacking Course

Productivity Hacking for Public Relations Professionals. Work faster, increase your productivity, automate boring tasks, and free up time for added value Public Relations work.

About the course

Learn "hacking" skills to work faster, increase your productivity, automate boring tasks, and free up time for the real added value Public Relations work you really like to do!

When I started in PR (early 90ies) we were still printing press releases and sending them off in brown envelopes with real stamps... Can you imagine!?

20 years later many of my communication colleagues tell me they are overwhelmed with technology and really don't see how it helps them do their job in a more efficient way. While good writing and understanding the latest communication theories is necessary, most of us in PR struggle with technology (AI, Automation, Social Media etc...) and are stuck in workflows from another era.

Make technology work for you, not the other way around!

Back to added value PR

In this self paced e-learning course, you’ll learn the skills and discover the tools to automate boring repetitive tasks, speed up research and organise data among many other things.

By combining a certain mindset and the right online tools, you'll be able to free up time and use it for the PR work you really want to do.

Become a PR Hacker. "To hack" - to cut away the unnecessary.

What's in the course?

Learn everything you need about using the latest methodology, technology, automation tools and artificial intelligence and stop doing boring public relations tasks.

In this course, we’ll cover 7 topics that you should know to become a more technically savvy public relations professional - what I call a "PR Hacker".

  • Lesson 1: How to get into the "hacking" mindset and eliminate "time wasters".
  • Lesson 2: How to apply the basic Agile and Lean principles to communications.
  • Lesson 3: How to use automation to get rid of those repetitive, no value add tasks.
  • Lesson 4: How to ditch the excel sheet from hell and apply CRM to your media list.
  • Lesson 5: How to apply Kanban principles to Crisis Communications Management.
  • Lesson 6: How to turn text into video - automatically.
  • Lesson 7: How to leverage a single free tool to create mini PR campaign websites.

And much more…

Is this course for me?

This course is for everyone who works in Public Relations, Marketing Communications or Corporate Communications, be it in-house or in agency.

The examples and applications come from my own professional world. I am a Public Relations professional with more than 25 years experience and have used technology to optimise my day to day work since the late 90'ies.

What happens when I sign up?

Once you leave your email address you're certain to receive an email from me once the course is available (January 2019 timeline).

At that point in time you'll be able to register, pay for the course, add your discount code (if you're a member of IPRA, APRA, EACD, EUPRERA) and have immediate and unlimited access to all the modules.

The course consists of video, narrated slides, audio, worksheets and demos.

Is this about using tools?

No... and yes...

Tools are just tools and there are just too many of them. This is exactly one of the problems I solve in this course. What use is technology if it does not support a productive way of working and managing tasks?

The course starts with focusing on your mindset, explaining time restraints and workflows. We then look at how to integrate productivity principles like Agile/Lean and Kanban workflows.

Only then will we combine this with the right tools with a focus on low cost, effective and easy to use applications.

I am not tech savvy. Will this work for me?

If you work in communications you already have the basic technology skills for this course.

This is not a coding course! We'll only work with easy to use tools with a very low learning curve.

If you can use the most common word processing, presentation and web applications which are common today you will have no problem applying the course to your work.

Who are you and what are your credentials?

I am a passionate public relations professional with more than 25 years experience; both in-house (ex-IBM/Van Marcke Trading Group) and in agency (ex-Porter Novelli/PR Media).

My love for "smart technology" in PR started very early on when I started using online forums & chat for my work in the late 90'ies.

It continued for 10 years at IBM where I worked on the very first "blogging guidelines" (now the company's social media guidelines), the global social intranet and was responsible to integrate "new media" in the communications function.

I am one of the early "PR Bloggers" and have used technology for public relations more than 15 years now.

As a certified trainer, regular keynote speaker and PR consultant I do and apply what I teach here every single day for myself and for clients.

Is this a free course?

No, this course includes months of work and years of experience and will therefore be priced at 299€ (minus your potential discount if you're a member of the above listed PR associations).

This one time payment will give you access to a state of the art e-learning platform, deep insights, practical cases and step by step demonstrations on how to optimise your workflow.

Also, don't forget that when you pay for your course, you'll be helping a financially challenged PR student on the African continent. You'll be really paying it forward!
